A Guide to Our Packages

Our packages have been carefully created based on our extensive knowledge and experience of funeral arranging, each providing various elements of professional services, meaning you’ll only be charged for the services you need. We believe our packages offer the best value for money; however, we do recognise that every family is unique, and as such, may have different needs; we are therefore happy to tailor any package to the wishes of the family and will provide a written estimate before you are committed.

Each package also includes the essential, third-party, funeral related costs, allowing families to easily see what the total cost of the funeral is likely to be.

Additional, non-essential services, such as floral tributes, orders of service, and newspaper notices have NOT been included, but can be added at an extra cost.

What are essential, third-party, funeral related costs?

These are specific costs, payable to third-parties, that are essential for a funeral to take place. They are added to your invoice, and we pay them on your behalf.

For Cremation these costs include –

  • Cremation fee – payable to your chosen crematorium

For Burial in a council owned cemetery these costs include –

  • Purchase of a new burial plot (unless the grave has already been purchased) – payable to your chosen cemetery
  • The interment fee (costs to prepare the grave) – usually payable to your chosen cemetery

For Burial in a churchyard these costs include –

  • Burial fees – payable to the church where the burial is to take place
  • Grave preparation fees – payable to the grave diggers

Whether the funeral is to be burial or cremation, you are likely to need the services of either a celebrant or religious minister, and in most packages, we have included the typical cost of a celebrant to take the service at either the crematorium, or graveside, with prices available upon request for those who wish to hold a service in church, prior to committal at the crematorium.

The ‘Traditional Burial Package’ includes the fees for a service in St Michael’s  & All Angels Church prior to committal at a local cemetery, with prices available upon request for alternative local churches, or for those who wish to hold a service in a non-religious building, or other venue, instead of in church.

Cremation Packages

The below cremation packages are based on a cremation held at Chesterfield & District Crematorium (Brimington). Other crematoriums are available, with prices available upon request.

Direct Cremation

A Direct Cremation (unattended service) at a local Crematorium. This is our lowest cost package with restricted services.

This package is suitable for those who do not want to have a service for mourners to attend.

The package provides the following –

  • Our professional fees to arrange & oversee a direct cremation
  • Transfer of the deceased to our premises during office hours
  • Housing and care & attention of the deceased until the day of the funeral (up-to 35days)
  • A simple coffin
  • The provision of a suitable vehicle to convey the deceased to the crematorium
  • Cremation fees

Total cost £1,415

Additional charges will be made for the following – (prices on request)

  • Transfer of the deceased to our premises outside office hours
  • Chapel of rest visits
  • Preperations & presentation and dressing in own clothes or a simple shroud
  • Embalming

Simplicity - Cremation

An early morning attended cremation at Chesterfield Crematorium.

This package is suitable for those wanting a short service of reflection to listen to a chosen piece of music or favourite poem. The coffin will be conveyed to the crematorium in advance and the funeral director will meet you there on the day.

The package provides the following –

  • Our professional fees to arrange & oversee a short service of reflection
  • Transfer of the deceased to our premises during office hours
  • Housing and care & attention of the deceased until the day of the funeral (up-to 35days)
  • Preperations & presentation and dressing in own clothes or a simple shroud
  • A simple coffin
  • The provision of suitable vehicle to convey the deceased to the crematorium
  • Cremation fees (Band B) 8.40am – £530

 

Total cost £1,740

Additional charges will be made for the following – (prices on request)

  • Transfer of the deceased to our premises outside office hours
  • Chapel of rest visits
  • Embalming

Set - Cremation

An early morning attended service at Chesterfield Crematorium. This package is suitable for those who can choose from a limited choice of dates & times offered for the service.

The package provides the following –

  • Our professional fees to arrange & conduct the funeral, including the collection of charitable donations (to be returned to the family) and setting up a simple online donation & tribute page
  • Transfer of the deceased to our premises during office hours
  • Housing, preparations and care & attention of the deceased until the day of the funeral (up-to 45days)
  • Chapel of rest visits (restricted times during office hours)
  • A veneered coffin
  • The provision of a standard motor hearse to convey the deceased to the crematorium
  • The option to provide your own floral tributes & order of service sheets
  • Cremation fees (Band C) 9am or 9.45am – £760
  • Celebrant’s fee (up-to £220)

Total cost £2,595

Additional charges will be made for the following – (prices on request)

  • Transfer of the deceased to our premises outside office hours
  • Embalming
  • Chapel of rest visits out of hours
  • The cortege to leave from a local address
  • Coffin upgrades
  • Limousine(s)

Flexible - Cremation

An attended service at Chesterfield Crematorium. This package is suitable for those wanting a fully flexible service that gives the option to bespoke all aspects of the arrangement. We will work with you to choose a convenient date & time for the service and we will undertake all arrangements with third-party suppliers on your behalf.

The package provides the following –

  • Our professional fees to arrange & conduct the funeral, including third-party arrangements and the collection & distribution of charitable donations and setting up a personalised online donation & tribute page
  • Transfer of the deceased to our premises day or night
  • Housing, preparations and care & attention of the deceased until the day of the funeral (up-to 45 days)
  • Chapel of rest visits, during office hours and 1 evening visit if required
  • A veneered coffin
  • The provision of a standard motor hearse to convey the deceased to the service chapel, and or the crematorium, from a local address
  • The provision of one following limousine
  • Cremation fees (Band D) between 10.30am and 3pm – £1,025
  • Celebrant’s fee (up-to £220)

Total cost £3,345

Additional charges will be made for the following – (prices on request)

  • Coffin upgrades
  • Embalming
  • Additional limousine(s)
  • Church fees (applicable when holding a service in church, prior to the cremation)

Burial Packages

The below burial packages are based on burials at a Chesterfield Borough Council Cemetery. Other cemeteries and churchyards are available, depending on where the deceased person lived and the parish boundaries, with prices available upon request.

Direct Burial

A direct burial (unattended service) – at a Chesterfield Borough Council Cemetery.*This is our lowest cost package with restricted services.

This package is suitable for those who do not want to have a service for mourners to attend.

The package provides the following

  • Our professional fees to arrange & oversee a direct burial
  • Transfer of the deceased to our premises during office hours
  • Housing and care & attention of the deceased until the day of the funeral (up-to 45days)
  • A simple coffin
  • The provision of suitable vehicle to convey the deceased to the cemetery
  • The purchase of a new grave plot (if required)
  • The interment fee

Cost excluding new grave – £2,560

Cost including new grave – £4,380

  • Transfer of the deceased to our premises outside office hours

Graveside Burial Service

An attended graveside service – at a Chesterfield Borough Council Cemetery.

This package is suitable for those who can choose from a limited choice of dates & times offered for the graveside service, and who wish to make their own arrangements for floral tributes/order of service sheets etc.

The package provides the following

  • Our professional fees to arrange & conduct the graveside service, including setting up a simple online donation & tribute page
  • Transfer of the deceased to our premises during office hours
  • Housing, care & attention of the deceased until the day of the funeral (up-to 45days)
  • Preperations & presentation and dressing in own clothes or a simple shroud
  • Chapel visits (during office hours)
  • The provision of a veneered coffin
  • The provision of a motor hearse to convey the deceased directly to the cemetery
  • The purchase of a new grave plot (if required)
  • The interment fee
  • Celebrant or Minister’s fee (up-to £220)

Traditional Burial Service

An attended service at a local church, followed by burial at a Chesterfield Borough Council Cemetery.

This package is suitable for those wanting a fully flexible service that gives the option to bespoke all aspects of the arrangement. We will work with you to choose a convenient date & time for the service and we will undertake all arrangements with third-party suppliers on your behalf.

The package provides the following

  • Our professional fees to arrange & conduct the funeral, including third-party arrangements and the collection & distribution of charitable donations and setting up a personalised online donation & tribute page
  • Transfer of the deceased to our premises day or night
  • Housing, care & attention of the deceased, preparation & dressing in own clothes as provided
  • Chapel of rest visits during office hours and 1 evening visit if required
  • The provision of a veneered coffin
  • The provision of a standard motor hearse to convey the deceased to the church, and cemetery, from a local address
  • The provision of one following limousine
  • The purchase of a new grave plot (if required)
